Abstract:

Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.is a worldwide invasive weed that causes significant damage to the ecosystems and biodiversity of invaded areas.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.has antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor effects.Therefore, the research approach towards Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.has gradually shifted from eradication and control to comprehensive utilization.We review the research progress of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng.in terms of chemical compositions(terpenoids, flavonoids, steroids, and phenylpropanoids),pharmacological effects, and toxicity.Moreover, we put forward prospects in the future research priorities.
