In this late autumn and approaching winter season, the 8th "Hubei Young Scientists Forum in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering" was successfully held at Hubei University of Science and Technology(Wenquan Campus) from November 22nd to 24th. More than 390 people, including experts and outstanding young scientific researchers from over 20 universities and research institutions such as the University of South Africa, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, CAS, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Hubei University, Wuhan Institute of Technology, and young doctoral and master's students from Nuclear Technology and Chemical Biology College of Hubei University of Science and Technology participated in this forum. They focused on the theme of "Accelerating the Formation of New Quality Production Capacity and Building a Modern Industrial System", delved into hot topics in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering, shared new ideas and viewpoints, and contributed wisdom and strength to promoting scientific exchanges, advancing technological progress, and empowering economic and social development.
This forum was hosted by the Youth Committee of the Hubei Provincial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Society, the Editorial Board and Editorial Department of "Chemistry ＆ Bioengineering", and was organized by the Science and Technology Association and the Nuclear Technology and Chemical Biology College of Hubei University of Science and Technology. Professor Wang Cunwen, the president of the Hubei Provincial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Society and the president of "Chemistry ＆ Bioengineering"; Professor Liu Xinying, academician of the South African Academy of Sciences, from University of South Africa, Professor Liu Yi, the president of South-Central Minzu University, Professor Li Dai, the president of Hubei University of Science and Technology, Professor Zheng Anmin from Wuhan University, Professor Xia Baoyu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Wang Cheng from Wuhan University, were invited to attend the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Bai Yuting, the Vice President of Hubei University of Science and Technology.
Professor Li Dai represented Hubei University of Science and Technology and delivered a warm congratulation to the grand opening of the 8th "Hubei Young Scientists Forum in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering", expressed sincere welcome to the arrival of all guests, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all leaders, experts, and friends from all walks of life who have long supported Hubei University of Science and Technology! In his speech, he briefly introduced the school's development history and hoped that through this academic exchange forum, fruitful results would be achieved in stimulating scientific innovation and promoting academic development, and that it would make new and greater contributions to accelerating the construction of a national new development pattern pilot zone and accelerating the construction of an important strategic fulcrum for the rise of the central region!
Professor Wang Cunwen represented the society and delivered a warm greeting to the vast number of chemistry and chemical engineering scientists, and expressed sincere gratitude to all friends from all walks of life who have supported the society! In his speech, he emphasized the new breakthroughs and progress made by the society in reform and high-quality development in recent years, and hoped that the young chemistry and chemical engineering scientists would strive to improve the level of academic exchanges, continuously increase the intensity of industry-university-research-application cooperation, promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, develop new quality production capacity in accordance with local conditions, accelerate the formation of new development momentum and advantages, create a new situation of high-quality development and sustainable revitalization of Hubei's chemistry and chemical engineering, and better contribute to writing the new chapter of China-style modernization in Hubei.
Four outstanding young scientists were invited to give special reports. Professor Liu Xinying's "Facing the Future: Distributed Energy Factories", Professor Liu Yi's "Efficient Construction of Quantum Dots and Their Regulation of Tumor Microenvironment and Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Mechanism", Professor Zheng Anmin's "Molecular Sieve Catalysts and Molecular Sieve Catalytic Mechanism", and Professor Wang Cheng's "Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Framework Materials". The special reports were splendid and inspiring, stimulating wisdom, and the atmosphere of communication was intense, promoting academic cross-disciplinary integration, inspiring new research ideas, and jointly focusing on the high-quality development of new technologies in the new era, new journey, and new science. Professor Wang Cunwen and Professor Xia Baoyu respectively presided over the invited presentations and presented the "Forum Lecturer Certificates" to the invited speakers.
During the youth report session, 14 outstanding young scholars: Professor Wang Chao from the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, CAS, Researcher Xu Jiangping from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor Cheng Honggang from Wuhan University, Associate Professor Cheng Ying from Central China Normal University, Associate Professor Ding Ling from Wuhan Polytechnic University, Associate Professor He Bianyang from Hubei Engineering University, Doctor Guan Zhipeng from Wuhan Institute of Technology, Doctor Wu Jun and Professor Li Wangnan from Hubei University of Arts and Science, Doctor Huang Yan from Huanggang Normal University, Doctor Li Miaomiao from Jianghan University, Doctor Liu Sensheng from China Three Gorges University, Associate Professor Ji Liudi from Hubei University of Science and Technology, and Doctor Zeng Xianghui from Hubei Polytechnic University all shared their latest research findings. The young scholars attending the conference exchanged academic ideas, which not only sparked more creative inspiration but also enhanced mutual understanding and deepened their cooperative friendship.
For this forum, 20 outstanding academic papers were selected from the chemical and chemical engineering industry in Hubei Province. These papers have been compiled and published into two special issues(Collected Papers of the 8th "Hubei Young Scientists Forum in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering") by Chemistry & Bioengineering, a Chinese core journal, a China Science and Technology core journal, and an outstanding journal of Hubei Province. The special issues have been released for public distribution both domestically and internationally.
During the forum, the association solemnly commended the "Hubei Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Advanced Young Workers" of 2024 and the "Hubei Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Young Innovation Award" of 2024, awarded the forum of the Nuclear Technology and Chemical Biology College of Hubei University of Science and Technology the "Outstanding Organization Unit", and conducted the selection and commendation of "Outstanding Youth Reports".
The 8th forum concluded successfully in a warm, active, and vibrant atmosphere. The 9th "Hubei Young Scientists Forum in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering" will be held at Hubei Normal University in 2025.
